Flexible high-tech cleanroom solution for large vacuum systems

Streicher Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG is a leading provider in the field of high-precision machine and plant manufacturing. For the cleaning, assembly, and packaging of ultra-clean large vacuum systems weighing up to 50 tons, the company required a cleanroom solution that not only meets the highest cleanliness requirements but is also perfectly matched to the existing infrastructure. A particular challenge was the integration of an existing 50-ton hall crane into the concept without positioning it inside the cleanroom.

Challenge: High flexibility with maximum purity

The cleanroom was to cover an area of 340 m² and, with a ceiling height of 8 meters, also be designed for the assembly of large components. At the same time, special requirements had to be met, including:

  • A clean room that can be completely darkened (<20 lux) for optical examination procedures.
  • A sliding partition wall for flexible division into two production areas.
  • A crane integration that lifts loads in the clean room without breaking the clean room boundaries.
  • Complete avoidance of outgassing materials to prevent contamination.

The installation had to be completed on site within just three weeks so as not to interrupt the production process.

Solution: Customized large cleanroom with innovative special solutions

Sphairlab developed a modular cleanroom concept that is perfectly tailored to the requirements of Streicher Maschinenbau:

  • Hall crane integration: Thanks to a special design, the existing 50-ton hall crane could continue to be used, while the cleanroom tent ensures complete cleanliness. Loads can thus be lifted directly in the cleanroom without affecting its structure.
  • Flexible room layout: A movable partition wall allows the cleanroom to be quickly adapted to changing production requirements.
  • Special lighting for examination procedures: The entire cleanroom system was designed so that it can be darkened to below 20 lux – an essential requirement for certain optical measurements.
  • Material airlocks for maximum efficiency: In addition to a fixed personnel and material airlock, another airlock that can be moved by crane has been integrated to ensure access to both parts of the cleanroom – regardless of the current position of the partition wall.

Result: High-tech clean room with maximum functionality

After an installation period of just a few weeks, the cleanroom tent at Streicher Maschinenbau was successfully put into operation. The state-of-the-art solution not only offers optimal conditions for the production of large vacuum systems, but is also adaptable in the long term thanks to its modular and flexible design.

The project demonstrates how sphairlab combines innovative cleanroom technology with maximum functionality—a perfect solution for high-end industrial applications.

From the very beginning, our collaboration with sphairlab was characterized by pragmatism, flexibility, and absolute customer focus. We had very specific requirements for our cleanroom - from size to special technical solutions. The sphairlab team provided us with a tailor-made solution.

Thanks to the cleanroom tent, we were able to create an ISO 7 cleanroom environment and are now able to perform final cleaning, assembly, and packaging of our fully automated ultra-clean large vacuum systems weighing up to 50 tons under cleanroom conditions. The reliability and solution-oriented approach of sphairlab convinced us – a collaboration we would enter into again at any time.
