Flexible integration of a cleanroom into existing production structures

Bosch Rexroth AG needed a fast and cost-efficient cleanroom solution for the production of protective masks. The goal was to create an environment in accordance with ISO 14644-1 Class 9 that could be seamlessly integrated into existing production facilities. Particular challenges included the integration of an existing wall and the implementation of a conveyor system in the material lock to ensure a smooth production flow.

Challenge: Integrating clean rooms into existing infrastructure

Controlled environmental conditions are essential for the manufacture of protective masks in order to minimize particle contamination and ensure product quality. The biggest challenge was to make optimal use of the available production space and efficiently integrate the existing infrastructure. The clean room had to be connected to an existing wall and integrate a conveyor system into the material lock to optimize production. In addition, rapid implementation of the project was crucial in order to meet the increasing demand for protective masks during the coronavirus pandemic at short notice.

Solution: Customized cleanroom tent with direct connection to production processes

Sphairlab developed a tailor-made solution with a cleanroom area of 60 m², which was implemented within eight weeks. The cleanroom tent was designed so that an existing wall could be used as part of the cleanroom structure. This not only saved space, but also resulted in a stable and economical construction.

A key element of the solution was the integration of a conveyor system into the material lock. This optimized the material flow and enabled efficient and contamination-free transfer of protective masks between production stages. Thanks to its modular design, the cleanroom tent could be set up quickly and could be flexibly adapted if future production adjustments were necessary.

Result: Efficient cleanroom production with optimal process integration

With the implementation of this project, Bosch Rexroth now has an ISO 9-compliant cleanroom environment that has been perfectly integrated into the existing production process. The combination of pragmatic design, fast delivery, and customized adaptation to the existing infrastructure demonstrates the flexibility and efficiency of sphairlab's cleanroom solutions.

The project proves that cleanrooms do not necessarily have to be complex and rigid—innovative textile solutions allow them to be integrated efficiently and economically into existing production environments.
