Modular cleanroom solution for a temporary production facility

mecora GmbH is a specialist in the development and manufacture of high-precision medical devices. The production of these sensitive components required an ISO 14644-1 Class 7 cleanroom environment – in a rented hall with an uncertain lease term. The company therefore needed a solution that not only met the highest cleanliness requirements, but could also be implemented flexibly and relocated to another site if necessary.

Challenge: Temporary cleanroom with maximum adaptability

The production of medical devices is subject to strict regulatory requirements, particularly with regard to particle-free conditions and hygiene. A cleanroom solution therefore had to not only comply with standards, but also be adaptable to the specific requirements of the company.

Since the cleanroom was set up in a rented hall, the uncertain rental period posed an additional challenge: a traditional, permanently installed solution would have involved high investment costs and low flexibility. Instead, mecora needed a mobile cleanroom system that could be easily dismantled and reassembled when changing locations.

Solution: Transparent cleanroom tent in an innovative doughnut shape

Sphairlab developed a 130 m² cleanroom tent in a special doughnut shape, which allows for optimal use of space within the rented hall. The round design minimizes turbulence and facilitates uniform air flow—a crucial factor for ISO 7 cleanroom class.

Special attention was paid to transparency: the design uses large, transparent materials that allow a good view into the cleanroom while creating a bright, pleasant working atmosphere.

To ensure safe access and efficient separation of personnel flows, the cleanroom tent was equipped with two separate personnel airlocks for male and female staff. In addition, a separate material airlock was integrated to ensure controlled material logistics.

Result: A future-proof cleanroom solution with maximum flexibility

With its innovative doughnut design, transparent materials, and modular construction, mecora was able to create a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment that not only meets current requirements but also remains future-proof. Should a change of location become necessary, the cleanroom tent can be easily dismantled and reassembled at a new location - a decisive advantage over traditional cleanroom installations.

The project impressively demonstrates how sphairlab develops cleanroom solutions that are perfectly tailored to individual requirements while also being economical, flexible, and compliant with standards.

“Our new cleanroom impresses with a completely different look. Technically and regulatory, we have been operating this room for years in exactly the same way as our other room, with which we already have 25 years of experience. Very straightforward and safe.”
