Although we are known for innovative textile cleanroom solutions, we built an airlock with independent ventilation compliant with ISO 14644-1 Class 8 for a client in the pharmaceutical industry. This project demonstrates that we can offer not only textile but also solid cleanroom solutions when specific requirements call for them.

The airlock was constructed using a modular system of solid walls, which significantly sped up on-site installation. The solution was operational within just four days. Special attention was paid to the client’s fire safety requirements: Since the materials used had to be non-combustible, sheet material was used instead of our standard flame-retardant high-tech textile.

To ensure safety and functionality, the airlock was equipped with an interlock system that prevents the doors from opening simultaneously. We also integrated an insect trap and continuous pressure monitoring, since the curved textile cannot serve as an indicator of pressure buildup when solid walls are used. The airlock meets all of the customer’s requirements and offers a safe, standards-compliant, and technically sound fire protection solution.
