sphairlab and the Future of Aerospace in the Aachen Region

On March 12, 2026, our Managing Director Max Lindemann attended the “Moving Mittelstand” event organized by the Aachen Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK Aachen). The focus was on current developments and prospects for the aerospace industry in the region, North Rhine-Westphalia, and throughout Germany. The event not only offered valuable insights but also the opportunity to familiarize oneself with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Würselen and Aachen University of Applied Sciences through guided tours.

New Neighborhood: Merzbrück Research Airfield

A particular highlight was the announcement that both the DLR and Aachen University of Applied Sciences plan to relocate to the Merzbrück Research Airfield. This means they will become direct neighbors of sphairlab in the future—an exciting development that will further strengthen exchange and collaboration in the region. The aerospace industry is a particularly interesting field for us, as our textile cleanroom solutions must meet high standards of precision, cleanliness, and flexibility in this sector. Events like “Moving Mittelstand” help bring companies in the industry together, thereby promoting innovation and growth in the region.
